Se la sociologia vuol essere la partecipazione critica dell'umano all'umano, deve unire analisi rigorosa e attenzione all'attualità, anche la più slabbrata. Non per mettersi al rimorchio della cronaca, ma per cogliere nel dato empirico il suo senso profondo, il collegamento con la totalità. In questo senso, «La critica sociologica», il cui primo numero data al 1967, è una rivista trimestrale politicamente impegnata ma nello stesso tempo scientificamente rigorosa. Pubblica saggi ed interventi di sociologi accreditati e di giovani studiosi su temi attinenti alla teoria e alla ricerca sociale, avvalendosi inoltre della collaborazione di antropologi culturali, esperti in comunicazione, storici, scienziati sociali di varie discipline. Gli argomenti trattati vanno dall'analisi delle forme di potere allo studio della struttura della società, dall'indagine sui fenomeni migratori e sulla nuova società multietnica e multiculturale allo studio dei modelli economici.

In this sense, «La critica sociologica», whose first number given from 1967, is a quarterly review politically engaged but at the same time scientifically rigorous. It publishes essays and tests of qualified sociologists and young scholars relating to the social theory and research, taking advantage also of the collaboration of cultural anthropologists, experts in communication, historians, social scientists of several disciplines. The subjects discussed go from the analysis of the power forms to the study of the society structure, from the research into migratory phenomena and multiethnic and multicultural new society to the investigation into the economic models.
